Per chi guida un'aziendaFor those who run a company
«Quante persone ci stanno davvero in questi metri? Open space o stanze? How many people really fit in these square metres? Open space or rooms? Where do you take a call without disturbing anyone, where do you receive a client?" These are the questions of anyone opening or renewing an office, and they are solved in plan, before the move. Here you find how we work, with three offices made between Sicily and Milan and the principles we apply before choosing a desk.
I principi dell'ufficioOffice principles
Un ufficio funziona An office works se è disegnato su chi ci lavora.when it is designed on the people who work there.
Six rules that hold for a two-hundred-square-metre practice as for a five-hundred-and-fifty-square-metre headquarters with thirty desks: we have verified them in every office we have designed.
01
How many they are, how they work, how long they sit at a desk and how long in meetings or on the phone: it is the figure that sizes the office. It is counted before drawing, and decides how many desks, how many rooms and how much shared space.
02
Aperto e chiusoOpen and closednella giusta misurain the right measure
Open space makes ideas circulate, rooms protect concentration and confidential meetings. Neither is enough on its own: they are dosed on the real work, with quiet zones, meeting rooms of different sizes and corners for a call.
03
Noise is the first reason an open space fails. Absorbing panels and ceilings, soundproof booths for calls, materials that do not reflect sound: they are decided in plan, because adding them later costs money and shows.
04
La luceLightnaturale su ogni postazionenatural on every desk
Desks sit near the windows, side-on to the light, never against it; shading keeps the sun out without closing the view. Artificial light completes it in scenes: focused on the work surfaces, diffused where people talk.
05
Cables, data, screens, video calls, climate and shading are decided before the furniture, together with the systems engineers, so they run inside the volumes and under the tops. An office full of wires is an office designed afterwards.
06
L'identitàIdentitysi legge dall'ingressoreads from the entrance
Chi entra deve capire in pochi passi chi siete: accoglienza, sala riunioni e materiali raccontano l'azienda ai clienti e a chi ci lavora ogni giorno. Whoever enters must understand in a few steps who you are: reception, meeting room and materials tell the company to clients and to those who work there every day. It is what makes people stay, and what brings back those who choose you.
Aperta nel 2023.A deconsecrated church in the historic centre of Alcamo, to be turned into the offices of a consulting firm. The problem: bringing light and workstations inside thick walls, without touching their character. The solution: a reinforced-concrete frame in the void, with a central pillar dividing the floors into four spaces; one ceiling removed for the double height, a skylight carrying light down to the ground floor, transparent partitions letting it through, grey resin underfoot, exposed tuff and bespoke oak. Opened in 2023.
Studio Didea, Palermo, duecento metri in un attico anni Settanta.two hundred metres in a Seventies penthouse.
Rovere cenere, nero e crema. Dal 2020.Our own office: a Seventies apartment in the centre of Palermo, with the long corridor typical of its time and the rooms in a row. The problem: making it a single workspace without demolishing everything. The solution: the corridor becomes archive and library with a bespoke shelf running its whole length; the work rooms are joined by a ribbon window and a continuous cantilevered top, interrupted only by a thin pane of glass; a small kitchen for breaks and informal work. Ash oak, black and cream. Since 2020.
Lipari Consulting, Milano,Lipari Consulting, Milan, cinquecentocinquanta metri al decimo piano.five hundred and fifty metres on the tenth floor.
Aperta nel 2020.The headquarters of a financial consulting firm near Piazza Duomo. The problem: an operations room with thirty desks, five private rooms and a young team that wanted to recognise itself in the space. The solution: a single tobacco-oak volume crossing the open space from the entrance to the meeting room, hiding the pillars and enclosing small soundproof break-out pods; floor-to-ceiling glass for the executive, training and recruiting rooms; a single home-automation system for lights, climate and shading. Opened in 2020.

Prior Ecclesia · Lipari Consulting, Alcamo
The people who work at Prior Ecclesia tell of an office carved from a former sacred space in Alcamo: the historic vaults, the light from the skylight, the desks among sixteenth-century walls.
Come verifichiamo un ufficioHow we check an office
Prima della scrivania, Before the desk, i numeri del lavoro.the numbers of the work.
We do not start from style but from the people who work there and how: from there come desks, rooms, acoustics and light. The rest we tell at the studio, with the projects in front of you.
01
Il modo di lavorareThe way of workingdecide la piantadecides the plan
How many people, at what hours, how long on site and how long remote, how many meetings and with whom: it is the figure that sizes desks, rooms and shared spaces. Before this, drawing an office is guesswork.
02
Postazioni e stanzeDesks and roomscontate una per unacounted one by one
Operational, executive, shared; large and small meeting rooms, call booths, training, break, archive: every space has a number and a use. We check that they fit in the square metres, and that some are left over to grow.
03
I percorsiThe routesdi chi entra e di chi lavoraof visitors and of staff
Li disegniamo e li misuriamo in pianta, cercando incroci e strettoie. The arriving client does not cross the operations room; staff reach printing, archive and toilets in a few steps; deliveries have a route of their own. We draw them and measure them in plan, looking for crossings and bottlenecks.
04
AcusticaAcousticse riservatezzaand privacy
Where a call is made, where a contract is signed, where people work in silence: for each zone we check how much noise comes in and how much goes out, and decide panels, booths, glass and doors before the staff ask for them.
05
Luce e climaLight and climatepostazione per postazionedesk by desk
Orientation, windows, sun at different hours: every desk is checked on the light it receives and the heat it takes in. From here come the shading, the position of the work surfaces and the scenes of the artificial light.
06
A three-dimensional model and renders with the real desks, the real furniture and the people's routes: you see what works while moving it costs a line, not a demolition. Only then do we build.
Il budget, prima del progettoThe budget, before the design
Quanto costa? How much does it cost? You know before a single line is drawn.
We do not publish prices per square metre: a professional practice, a thirty-desk headquarters and a church to convert are three different stories. We do something more useful.

03
Un costoA feeche torna indietrothat comes back to you
The feasibility study has a fee, agreed together at the second meeting. If you go ahead with the design it is deducted in full from the proposal: not an extra expense, an advance on the work.
The unexpected can happen, but it is small: from the average of more than 290 completed projects, around 3% of the budget in non-historic buildings and 5% in old ones. If design starts after demolition is done, it drops to zero.

Domande frequentiFrequently asked
Le domande di chi apre o rinnova una sedeThe questions of those opening or renewing an office
Quanto costa progettare un ufficio? How much does it cost to design an office?
It depends on the space, the number of people and the way of working: that is why we do not publish prices per square metre. We tell you before drawing: after the first meeting, a feasibility study gives the construction cost of the office you have in mind. It has a fee agreed together, deducted from the proposal if you go ahead.
Open space o stanze?Open space or rooms?
Neither on its own. Open space makes ideas circulate and keeps the team together, rooms protect concentration and confidential meetings. The right measure comes from your work: how many people, how many calls, how many meetings a day. In Milan we solved it with a wooden volume that divides the open space and contains the soundproof break-out pods.
Quante persone ci stanno in questi metri quadri? How many people fit in these square metres?
Fewer than the desk count says: you need meeting rooms, call booths, a break area, archive, toilets and the routes between them. We check it in the feasibility study, counting the desks on the real way of working, with on-site and remote attendance, and leaving room to grow.
Possiamo restare operativi durante i lavori? Can we keep working during the works?
For a renewal of furniture and finishes, yes, in zones and with scheduled working hours, moving the team each time. If systems, floors and partitions are touched it is better to work in a single block and organise a temporary move: we set the return date and build the calendar backwards.
Lavoriamo in modo ibrido: quante postazioni servono? We work hybrid: how many desks do we need?
Fewer than one per person, if attendance is spread across the week: you count the peak days, not the sum of employees. Shared desks, however, call for personal lockers, simple booking and more spaces to meet, because those who come in come to see the others.
Can an office go into a historic building?
Yes, and it is often the most recognisable office: in Alcamo we brought a consulting firm inside a sixteenth-century church. It takes a new structure that does not touch the walls, light to bring where there was none and systems that run without being seen. The permits are handled by the client's technician, whom we coordinate.

Tell us about the office: we reply within 24 hours and set up the first meeting.
